Guide to Family History Sources in the New Jersey State Archives, 3rd edition
Compiled by Bette Epstein, Daniel P. Jones, and Joseph R. Klett

CURRENTLY OUT OF PRINT AND UNAVAILABLE FOR ORDER

Revised for the second time in 1994, this guide describes the family history and genealogical holdings of the New Jersey State Archives.

The New Jersey State Archives holds the most extensive holdings of primary research materials relating to New Jersey family history and genealogy. Among these records are:

  • wills prior to 1900;
  • vital records, 1848-1878;
  • decennial state censuses, 1855-1915;
  • revolutionary war tax ratables; colonial deeds; and
  • over 10,000 microfilm reels of county records.

The Guide describes these and many other records and explains their usefulness for genealogical research. It also cites indexes to and transcriptions of the New Jersey State Archives' genealogical records.

Printed in large, easy-to-read type, the Guide is amply illustrated with maps, tables, and photographs of documents. The price for this publication is $7.00 postpaid.
